Introduction to Ankur Kumar (click)
“Hi my name is Ankur Kumar. I’m one of the Counselors at SRJC! I'm from Los Angeles. Community college helped me complete my goal of earning a bachelor’s degree at UCLA. I later completed my master’s degree in Counseling at USC. I spent much of my career on the east coast, where I also became a spouse and a dad!
Why do I like Counseling? I care about and respect students. As a younger me, first-generation student, navigating college amidst personal and family setbacks, I took longer than some peers, and made mistakes along the way. In that journey, I sharpened my mindset, shaped my environment, and realized it’s okay to seek support through my campus to do well. I think these challenges, plus the resulting growth I had, gives me humility and makes me relatable to many students.
Ways I can help?
I will help plan courses towards earning a degree, certificate, transfer to earn a bachelor's degree or higher, or exploring classes that interest you. I can connect you with resources, and help you navigate college policies or procedures.
Where to find us:

Hani Al Abadi
“Every river has a point of origin, and my origin was the Middle East, as life led me to join the Petaluma student success team at the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC), seeking to help other students overcome any challenges and connect with the resources that helped me overcome a lot of the stressors, such as financial aid, scholarship, and more. It's a small token of appreciation to give back to the place that has given me hope and ignited the dormant amber inside.
The American dream fuels my pursuit, where relentless effort paves the way for limitless possibilities, and SRJC stands at the core of the American dream. I aspire to inspire individuals from similar backgrounds. I am resolute in empowering students to persist in their dreams, irrespective of socioeconomic constraints or age barriers.”
